friends who sew inspire me

Last Saturday was a photo session at Tech Liminal in downtown Oakland. Ms. M. brought two outfits and we had plenty of help from Anca and Jenn in setting up the shots, with lighting and props.

And here is Ms. A. in her Regency finery:

  1. Danine Cozzens Says:

Note: Striped regency back has excellent period posture and no gaposis with buttons. I suspect the gapping problem is due in part to modern slouching.
For even more fun, have a book of Regency fashion plates on hand, like the blue Ackerman Dover reproductions, and make note of the various attitudes. Nailing a known period pose — like Holbein’s Henry VIII with legs wide, arms akimbo — can make a portrait pop. In a group of moderns with Kodak smiles, however, you will look like a Lemon Lady if you are sternly Victorian.
